  4. Elliott's reports herts 2012

    Elliott's reports herts 2012

    Hi all

As you may be aware already, Elliott was able to clinch his first BRCA British National Championship at the weekend, having a perfect start and was able to TQ and win all 3 rounds so far of the championship. The last by 2 laps so now with one round remaining he can’t be equaled or beat.  A great achievement showing the rest of the field his great pace and the fantastic race package he has this year.

This 2 day meeting started on Saturday with 2 rounds of practice, in which Elliott was the fastest, and 4 rounds of qualification, with one round on Sunday morning before the start of the finals, 3 rounds to count.

All Elliott needed to do was to get TQ and then to finish in the top 3 to clinch the championship.  Our plan was to try to achieve this on Saturday so we could relax until Sunday morning - coming out of timed practice showing his speed he was able to TQ the first 3 rounds of qualification by over 10 seconds on each of the rounds.

Elliott was using his new Novarossi BTTS with a 2069 Nova pipe.  We decided to run the normal setup that we run at the Westmill track and we used AKA impact soft tyres for qualification.  The weather was fine and dry; the track was becoming very blue grooved and extremely high grip. Then as the weather was warming up to about 28 degrees, we increased out shock oils which helped the car.  With TQ now secured we were able to try a few options on the car in preparation for our finals on the Sunday.  We also made a few alterations to the engine.  We changed the venturi in the engine from a 6mm to a 7mm as we wanted a bit more top end speed, but we knew this would be compromising our fuel runs so after a few adjustments we ended up with a 6.5mm venturi which gave us the best combination, good fuel mileage and plenty of power.  Our BTTS was faultless all weekend, running perfectly throughout all the qualification.

    Sunday

Into the last round of qualification in which Elliott would go out and was able to finish second in this round, unfortunately had an error in the back of the track which cost him quite a lot of time, but was happy that we would be on pole for one of the semi-finals later in the day.

    Semi Final

Elliott starting in first position in his B Semi Final in which he won quite easily.  He was using his AKA impact soft tyres, which have quite extensive wear on them after a 20 minute final.  His race time was faster by one lap than anybody else and was able to secure the pole position for the main A Final.

    Main A Final

We had a good showing of Kyosho in the Main final with 3 cars, Reece Sawyer and the evergreen Mike Cradock our normal pitman. Thankfully Stewart Wilcox as always was there in the pits as he has done on many occasions and gave us the confidence to do well! Especially as Elliott was feeling a little under pressure!  he really wanted to get the Championship sewn up.  He knew what he needed to do ... to run a solid race and hopefully without any problems.  Before the final we made a few alterations to the car setup.  We decided to go slighlty heavier on the rear shock oil as it was exctremely hot and was deciding whether to run medium or soft compound.  After some deliberation we decided to run medium enduro as the tyre wear was extremely high.  We also decided to have 7.5 minute fuel stops as the track was very high grip and wanted to

    source neobuggy

David Ronnefalk took his 3rd national Championship over the weekend at the very popular Robertsfors track in the far north of Sweden. The weekend started out with JQ driver Robban Gus on the pace however it was David who TQ'd overall and walked away with the final setting up a Kyosho/AKA podium lockout followed by Christoffer Svensson & Mikael Palsson in 3rd. The semis witnessed a few potential frontrunners crash out with B-Euros star Micke Johansson not making the cut and Mugen's young Protege Kennie Ekenstierna, not to mention Fredrik Peters having qualified 6th it was a disappointing end to the weekend. Qualifying saw quite the spread with Marcus Sandberg top of Q1, Robban Gus head Q2 - both times Ronnefalk in 2nd, in Q1 0.5 secs off TQ & 0.4 in Q2 however he would top qualify rounds 3 and 4 with Q5 going to Swedish Cup dominator Andreas Edvinsson. The final was Ronnefalk running

Boots BRCA Hat trick hands him title

Elliott Boots put in another mesmerizing drive to win at the 3rd two-day national, held at the Westmill track north of London. With the sunny weather arriving just in time for the Olympics, washing away memories of months of rain Elliott Boots led the final from start to finish, initially closely challenged by defending Champion Darren Bloomfield who would slowly drop back but the only drive able to keep Boots honest. The four round two-day format is new for 2012 and looks to be in favour, with exciting racing provided by the classic Xmas tree style format, indeed the semis were peppered with future stars, giving their older
