A quick report for you from last weekend.

Day One

Iarrived at the awesome facility in Italy, near Venice, called IBR Padova, which was to host the World Indoor Race with a lot of top drivers from around the world attending and quite a few drivers from the US so it was going to be a really good race.  I started a practice where I was also running E-Buggy so I knew I would have plenty of track time as a lot of local drivers had spent a long time on this track it would always be a challenge to beat some of these fast Italian drivers.  The day was spent mainly trying different setups on the car and also tyres as since I was here last the track has be re-designed and was really great to drive with all the normal fantastic facilities around - thanks to Nicola.

Qualifying

There were to be 5 rounds of qualifying for both classes with 3 rounds to count so there would be plenty of track time for me.  I was working hard on the car as the track was quite slick at some parts of the day and I found my car would feel the best towards the end of the day.  I was also trying different tyres and I found at this point my car was best on Proline Suburbs M4 compound.  I had also tried Holeshot M4 compound which I found were better in the morning than in the afternoon.  I had a good qualifying and got the car feeling really good.  I was able to TQ in Round 3 with a really quick time and the qualifying was very close so I was able to qualify 4th overall which I was happy with as I knew in the final the Kyosho MP9 would be really good.

Semi Final

I started 2nd on the grid for the Semi, again the Kyosho MP9 was feeling great and I was also trying some different tyres - I opted for the Proline Fugitive M4.  My Reds R7 engine was running really well with running the new Gen 2 Venturi, which gave me lots of torque and power which enabled me to finish the Semi and qualify for the Main A Final.

Main A Final

With a strong Semi Final I was able to put my Kyosho MP9 TKI3 second on the grid, missing out on Pole by a few seconds so this is going to be a really exciting final.  I decided to opt for my Proline Fugitive M4 tyres, which I know give me the grip I need for the hour long final.  I was able to make a good clean start and within a few laps was able to take the lead and was able to start to pull away from the chasing pack. I would carry on with the lead for a good 25 minutes now with a comfortable lead but unfortunately my car stopped just before I was due to come in for fuel.  This was a great shame because I was now going to be a couple of laps down once the car had recovered, once we re-fuelled the car ran perfect till the end.

I will be back here in January for the Italian Job Race, hopefully with a bit more luck and with this weekend racing in Madrid at the Buggyland Race.  I would just like to say thanks to all my sponsors for all their continued support and also thanks to Mike Craddock for all his help and hard work over the weekend.  See you trackside soon.

Regards
