Practice

Elliott has run on this track a fair bit so it wasn't really a case of knowing the way around the track, we wanted to make sure we had the car balanced and getting the right tyres to work in the cold conditions. We concluded because of the low traction of the track as it was quite dusty, To start with our Novarossi BTTS engine with a 6.5 venturi with a 9901 pipe and a 41021 manifold. which give us good fuel economy as we would really only have to do 9 minutes on fuel stops in a 45 minute final. Practice went really well. We decided to run the AKA impact tyres in soft compound, which were extremely good because there were quite a bit of concrete section parts of the track which generated a lot of grip.

Qualification

We entered qualification by immediately laying down the gauntlet with a TQ 1st round, 3rd in round 2, 1st in round 3, 2nd in round 4 and 1st in round 5. Elliott was the only driver on the Sunday morning to be able to do 9 laps which secured him TQ and Championship point.

Finals

The weather was still cold but the sun had been shining so we decided for our semi-final warm up we would try some AKA enduro tyres soft because we wanted to have a tyre that would probably las the 45 minute A Final. The plan was to test these tyres and to also do a run time for the engine. We had already planned to use impacts for the semi final and the enduro's for the main final. After the practice session Elliott found the enduro's helped him on certain parts of the track. He felt it made the car safer to drive so he decided to run soft enduro's in the semi final. In our fuel run we were able to get 10 minutes 19 seconds from our engine.

Semi Final

Elliott started from first position and cruised to an easy win, which gave him the best time out of the 2 semi finals, which put him on pole position for the main A Final. With the car now being prepared for the main A Final Mike Craddock checked the car through, checking the engine clutch and checking the centre diff and various parts of the car. We had already changed the shock oil for the semi final so we decided we wouldn't need to re-do the shocks. The car and engine were working beautifully. We prepared another set of AKA enduro soft tyres ready for the start. The final got underway and immediately Elliott pulled a nice gap on Neil Cragg in second place. The rest was history! Elliott set some blistering lap times which enabled him to pull a huge lead on the following pack and could then settle down. His fuel stops worked perfectly with no dramas or issues. The Novarossi BTTS was totally faultless all weekend and with his AKA tyres gave him the perfect amount of grip he needed to be able to lap the whole field up to second place and gain the extra lap. In our opinion we had the perfect package with the Kyosho MP9 TKI3, Novarossi Power, AKA Tyres, Racing Experience Fuel and all our other sponsors, LRP, Maugraphix, Ghea Racing, Bitty Design, SMD, Samwa, Rude Bits, Ultimate and Racer Magazine and a special thank you to Mike Craddock for his race preparation, which has given us a fantastic reliability.
